San Jose, CA – Kycon introduces a new innovation
in USB connector design with the release of two new series of low-profile
products. Available in single and stacked styles, the KUSBL-SMT and KUSBL
provide dramatic space-saving benefits to designers of computer laptop and
desktop systems, as well as peripherals such as keyboards, scanners, and USB
hubs. The low-profile design lowers the profile height of the connector
above the surface of the Printed Circuit Board, allowing for the PCB to be
mounted in a thinner chassis or closer to the other components or PCBs. The
single-port KUSBL-SMT enables space savings of up to 64% using surface mount
technology, while the stacked KUSBL provides a 31% space savings using a
through hole design. Both provide equipment designers with new
opportunities for achieving lower-profile system designs with height
reductions up to 5mm when using these new Kycon components.
Both the KUSBL-SMT and KUSBL are fully compliant
with USB 2.0. Both styles are available in standard gold flash or 30µ”
gold contact plating and the KUSBL-SMT is also available in tape and reel.
